TUCSON CLASSICS CAR SHOW
October 18, 2008
We had a 9 car turn out for this show this year about the same as last year. Four early convertibles, one Rampside and three late model coupes and one late model 4 -door. All the Corvairs parked together this year, except one non-club member who showed his V-8 Vair conversion. None of us "awarded", although there was a scout present from Hemmings Motor News who was looking for the "owner of that pretty little Lakewood Wagon" for some future use in the magazine. It was SLIGHTLY cooler than last year, about 3 degrees. Gordon Cauble was unable to attend, he was feeling a bit out of sorts. There was continuous interest in our display, people poking their heads in the windows for a look at the interiors and plenty of engine affectionados gawking at our various incarnations of a flat air cool 6 cylinder motor. Those present included, Barry and Chris Cunningham, Allen Elvick, Lynn Marrs & Bill Maynard, Traci Miller, Bill L., Marcy T. and Ed Segerstrom. Unfortunately John and Amy Young had an emergency and neither of their fine examples were available, Dave Lynch and Don Robinson were also absent due to prior commitments and their 1st class machines were also not present. Arnie, the show organizer, made a special trip over to our site to thank us for our participation and extend an invite to next year's show! One SURE way to garner some prizes next year is to do what the Avanti club did, sponsor a set of three prizes for CORVAIRS only! If you missed this show ... you missed Tucson's PREMIER Annual Car Show!
