The improbable almost occurred. The Tucson Corvair Association visited the 2015 Great Western Fan Belt Toss and Swap Meet in Palm Springs and entered to fan belt toss competition. It was Saturday morning. Two teams from Tucson signed up: "Rule Number One" consisted of Sam Pernu and Bill Maynard. The "Trejo Family" comprising of Javier Trejo and Gloria Trejo was the second team. The teams battled on and by midday both teams had made it to the Final Four. Unfortunately at the end of the semifinal round both teams had fallen. Kudos to the Tucson Corvair Association for having a semi finalist in each division. Next year it is almost certain these two teams will meet in the championship round.
